Software Developer's Kit

The SDK allows Narrowband Sockets applications to be developed for the Microsoft Windows* NT and Windows 95 platforms. Updates to the SDK will be posted here in the future. We encourage early adopters to use the NBS mailing list to submit questions and comments.

There are two implementations of the Narrowband Sockets SDK that have been implemented - the Server and the Client implementations. The Client Implementation is targeted for the Windows* 95 platform, and the Server Implementation has been targeted for the Windows NT*platform. They can be downloaded below.

IMPORTANT - READ THIS BEFORE OPENING OR INSTALLING: By opening this package, or reproducing, installing, or using the enclosed materials, you are agreeing to be bound by the terms of the Narrowband Sockets Developer's Agreement. If you do not agree to them, do not copy, install or use this software.

Server Implementation

The Narrowband Sockets Server Implementation of the SDK has been developed by Nokia Corporation.

Installation Instructions

  1. Download nbs-sdk.zip (637 KB PKZIP)
  2. Create a directory for NBS (e.g. "c:\nbs")
  3. Copy nbs-sdk.zip to this new directory
  4. Unzip nbs-sdk.zip maintaining directory structure (e.g. "pkunzip nbs-sdk.zip -d")
  5. Review readme.txt

Client Implementation

The Narrowband Sockets Client Implementation of the SDK has been developed by Intel Corporation. To download the Intel Narrowband Sockets SDK Version 1.0 for Windows* 95 please follow the installation instructions below.

Installation Instructions

  1. Please fill out and submit the registration form.
  2. You will be prompted to download the Intel NBS SDK zip file.
  3. Save the download zip file into a temporary directory on your local drive.
  4. Unzip nbscl10.zip maintaining directory structure (e.g. "pkunzip nbscl10.zip -d").
  5. Run install_nbs to install the SDK. The installation program will lead you through the installation process.
